Kay George

Marketing Graduate

"I am finding working at Heinz to be exciting, challenging and rewarding but overall I really enjoy coming into work each day..."

I am currently 3 months into the Heinz Graduate Scheme and my first placement is on the Amoy brand, working for the Senior Brand Manager.

During my first 3 months I have gained valuable insight and experience, getting involved in all aspects of the brand. From day one I was given my own projects, ranging in diversity from coordinating key communications to planning and maintaining the Amoy marketing budget. Most recently I have been involved in New Product Development, from the ideation stage to testing products with consumers and will follow this through in the development of new products.

Heinz is a challenging place to work, and due to the ever changing nature of the FMCG market no two days are ever the same which means I need to be flexible, and time management is key in order to meet deadlines and juggle daily requests.

One thing that initially attracted me to the Heinz graduate scheme are the cross functional opportunities. Over the next 2 years I’ll be spending 70 percent of my time in marketing and 30 percent on cross functional projects allowing me to gain a much broader understanding of the overall business in both a commercial and customer facing sense.

Although I have only been at Heinz for a few months I already feel my personal progression has exceeded beyond my expectations. The graduate schemes fits around your strengths and weaknesses, therefore my training and development is always different to the other graduates.

I am finding working at Heinz to be exciting, challenging and rewarding but overall I really enjoy coming into work each day, never entirely sure what the day will hold!
